Tob'Art 2011

This year Tob'Art was extended to 3 days, from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 April. But the first day was a bit special, as it consisted of an event in the House of Culture The event, in which, on the one hand, prizes were awarded to the plastic works related to the drum made by the children of the schools of Tobarra, and on the other hand, a review was given of the various conferences, talks and colloquiums in which the drum and its expansion on a national level were discussed on the radio and in the press.

Saturday saw the start of the traditional crafts exhibition and the various workshops, but on this occasion, in addition to the usual workshops on leather patching and fretwork for screws and hoops, there was also a workshop on the manufacture of wooden hoops and the assembly and tuning of drums. Also included were courses on playing various percussion instruments, such as the djembe or the flamenco cajón, and on making simple instruments (also percussion instruments, obviously), the latter dedicated to children. The day ended with a concert in which the group Disturbance delighted the audience with a variety of modern percussion.

On the last day the exhibitions and workshops were resumed, with the addition of a gastronomic exhibition for the tasting of typical products from Tobarra. We also had, as it could not be otherwise, an exhibition of drum playing with the participation of groups not only from Tobarra, but also from Hellín, Jumilla and Agramón. The show was closed with a brotherhood meal with the artisans and the rest of the collaborators.
